Following the huge success of the first round of the grant - which was announced in May - the Queensland Government is extending the Small Business COVID-19 Adaption Grant to a second round of applications. Round 2 will commence on July 1, and is part of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Strategy that sees up to $100 million being made available to small businesses.
The objective of the program is to support small businesses that have been subject to closure, or who have been highly impacted by the coronavirus shutdown restrictions that were announced by the Queensland Government in March.
Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, said the grants program had been developed to assist small businesses that have been forced either into hibernation, or into a significant restructuring of their business operations.
“Small businesses represent 97 per cent of all businesses and employ over 970,000 people or 45 per cent of the State’s private sector workforce” Palaszczuk said.
The initiative will help businesses adapt and sustain their operations, and build resilience through this challenging time.
Nick Chadwick, Epos Now's APAC Director said: "We're delighted that the COVID-19 Adaption Grant has been extended. Small businesses are the backbone of Queensland's economy, and so many of them have been negatively impacted by the pandemic”.
“This is exactly the sort of scheme we need to make sure independent businesses are able to bounce back from COVID, and we'll certainly be encouraging our customers to take part in the second round of applications".
The available grant offers a minimum of $2,000, and a maximum of $10,000, per eligible business. Due to the significant impact that COVID-19 has had on businesses, the funding can be used to help pay for financial, legal or other professional advice, as well as marketing and communications activities, and digital strategy development.
The grants can also be used to buy specialised digital equipment or business-specific software to help move the business online.
This means that if your business is eligible for the grant, you could use it to fund your Epos Now Point of Sale purchase, and upgrade the digital equipment within your business.
