National Waiters’ Day highlights the wide range of rewarding careers available within the hospitality industry, which currently employs more than 2.9 million people in the UK alone and brings in a significant amount of revenue to the national economy.
Ten representatives from restaurants, bars and cafes across Norwich took part in this year’s race, which saw competitors running through the city centre carrying a full glass of water. Participants included fine dining waiters, baristas and mixologists.
Points were deducted at the end for any spillages incurred over the course of the race, with both speed and accuracy proving crucial to the final result. Prizes were then distributed to the winners in four categories; Fastest Waiter, Fastest Waitress, Fastest Student and Best in Race.
Supporting events like this within the local community is a huge privilege for us. It’s so important to embrace all that the hospitality industry has to offer and highlight the level of skill and dedication needed to build a rewarding front of house career.
