Bayswell Park Hotel and Spa is situated in an idyllic cliff top location in Dunbar, and offers magnificent views of the southeast coast of Scotland. General Manager Jamie Carruthers prides himself on the relaxing and welcoming customer-focused environment that the hotel provides, and it’s really important to him that all customers have a seamless experience from booking, through to check-out.
With a restaurant, bar, spa and access to room-service, it was important for Jamie and his team that any bookings and extras could be accurately recorded against the customer's room. Previously Bayswell used pen and paper to make note of customer orders, and this resulted in lost revenue and mixups with rooms, and ultimately lost income.

After realising that their current system wasn’t working for them, Jamie decided to implement CaterBook PMS to manage his bookings. CaterBook integrates with the hotel's website, Booking.com, Laterooms.com & Expedia, which means that the Bayswell can easily accept online payments and bookings. Customer information, and booking details are pulled through from each site directly into the CaterBook software, allowing Jamie to manage and edit room rates, occupancy rates, and customer information from one place.
With CaterBook already in place, it was important for Jamie that their EPOS system was able to streamline, and accurately keep track of items purchased from the restaurant, bar, and spa. It was also vital that room-service could be assigned to a room, to ensure nothing would be missed. Jamie chose Epos Now software after hearing about its features and full integration with CaterBook.
The integration allows staff to take payment straight away, or they can assign charges to a room, so the customer can pay their total bill, including the cost of their room when they check-out. This way, all customer purchases are kept on one bill, ensuring extras are never missed and revenue is maximised. Additionally, as CaterBook and Epos Now are both cloud-based it means that vital business information can be accessed from anywhere, including occupancy rates, sales and stock reports, and much more.
