The list is compiled to celebrate innovative and fast-growing companies across the continent. They are the driving force of the European economy in the 21st century, generating jobs and sustaining Europe’s competitiveness. The FT1000 ranking also displays the number of jobs created and is weighted in favour of companies that grew organically rather than by acquiring rivals.
London has emerged as Europe’s capital for fast-growing companies — ahead of Paris, Milan and Berlin — highlighting its importance as a hub for innovation and commerce in the EU even as the UK prepares to leave the bloc. The new FT1000 list shows that 78 of those companies are based in London. Behind the British capital are Paris with 45 companies, Milan with 34 and 32 in Berlin. German food and beverage company, HelloFresh, took the top spot with a revenue growth of 13,159% between 2012 and 2015.
However, innovation isn’t exclusive to the capital, as showed by a large number of companies based outside their countries capital city. This includes Epos Now, Norwich-based point-of-sale specialist.
“I’m ecstatic Epos Now has been ranked 46th fastest growing company in Europe. What an achievement in just five short years! It’s great to see half of the top ten spots dominated by British companies. It truly is an amazing achievement, congratulations to everyone who made the list!” Jacyn Heavens, CEO.
