Epos Now sponsors DevelopHER Awards

Epos Now is a proud sponsor of the DevelopHER Awards, an annual not for profit awards ceremony recognising women who work in the technology sector in East Anglia.

The DevelopHER Awards aims to raise the profile of women in technology in East Anglia, creating role models to inspire the next generation to become developers, technicians, project managers, testers and digital experts. The awards were inspired by the team at Norwich based SyncDevelopHER, who run regular meet-ups hosting female role models speaking about their experiences in tech and encouraging more women to join their growing community.

With less than 25% of the sector made up by women, it’s fair to say the technology workplace environments are less than diverse. There are a number of causes suggested for this gender imbalance, many of which spark contentious arguments, as highlighted by the recent Google memo leak. It is the responsibility of everyone working in the sector to challenge the status quo and address this lack of diversity, in order to make the tech sector a more welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

“As a thriving technology business in the Eastern region, it only seemed natural to support this award. There is an abundance of female tech talent and it’s only fair this is recognised. We need to break down the barriers to entry for young women interested in pursuing a career in the technology profession, in addition to celebrating the achievements of those trailblazing the road ahead of them. It’s a real honour to be asked to judge the inspiration category and I know the calibre of candidates is going to be so high! Good luck to all the contestants and I look forward to meeting you soon!” Hayley Johnson, COO, Epos Now

If you and your company would like to get involved, please see the DevelopHer Award website for more information. You can nominate a woman working in tech, sponsor a package, attend the event or volunteer and get involved. Check out our other blogs addressing this issue.
