Who are App4?
App4 are a Mobile App and Web development company that specialise in creating business solutions that solve real life problems, improve efficiency and increase profits.
Our team has over 100 years’ experience in sales, marketing, IT and business development and helps us not only provide a great solution to our customers but we have the experience to work with them to grow their business.
Where are you based?
We are based in Derby in the Midlands but we cover the whole of the UK currently and are looking to expand overseas in the next 12 months.
What is your business & how did it start?
About three years ago I was talking to a friend who owned a restaurant and takeaway and he was telling me how much the likes of Just-Eat, Hungry House and Opentable were charging him for their services and I suddenly thought ‘I’m sure we could solve most, if not all of those problems’. He also said that one of the most frustrating things was he didn’t own the customer data and it stopped him from being able to communicate and market to his own customers.
“I’m sure we could solve most, if not all of those problems”
After a few weeks we had a working demo that we tested with him and we continued to work with him for about 12 months in our spare time to refine the product and the service.
What are your core values & mission?
A lot has changed since we started but the basic principles have stayed the same, solve the issues that restaurants, takeaway, pubs, cafes, bars and catering services have, make it simple to use, great value for money and most importantly adaptable to future needs.
We champion the small to medium sized business and we want to give them the same great tools that the large corporate business can afford so they can compete on a level playing field.
Why did you choose to work with Epos Now?
We provide a cloud based service and our customers can manage their product from anywhere with an internet connection so it was key that any of our partners provide the same service.
We also really liked the idea of the EposNow Appstore structure as it allowed us to not only deploy our product within an existing product but gave us the ability to work with other partners to expand our own offering to our own existing client base.
What are your predictions for the future of mobile apps in business?
Mobile is taking over food and small item purchase. There was an interesting stat bandied about last month that over 80% of all food orders under £30 were done on a mobile or tablet device, so it is even more critical than ever for businesses to provide this service to their clients.
Our own experience shows that Mobile Apps also grow your business with an average increase of around 25% in order values, a 33% growth in bookings and a whopping 50% increase in customer retention and repeat orders.
With the advent of smart watches, smart TV’s and connected devices in the home, soon you will be able to tap your watch to order your usual, talk to your TV to book a table and when your fridge is empty it can suggest you order a takeaway tonight instead.
Do you have any advice for business?
When looking at a Mobile App for your business you need to consider a few things before you purchase;
How many real clients does the company have? There are hundreds of “App businesses” out there that have no live customers, have never processed any transactions and have no real experience.
Who owns the data captured by the App? You as the business need to be the holder of the data, its key, as they are your customers and you want to be in control, if not, there is nothing to stop that business selling or using it elsewhere.
Have you spoken to a customer using the service? We have tons of testimonials on our website and we are happy to put potential customers in contact with any of our clients as we know they will be honest and open about how they have benefited from working with us, which is something I can’t say others may be willing to do.
